The memorial is to be found in the grounds of St Peters Church, Church Lane, Bottesford, Lincolnshire. It takes the form of a winged figure of peace set on a square plinth and base with a paved surround and rail with the lettering in black. The memorial was unveiled by Sir Berkeley Sheffield, Bart., and dedicated 18 June 1922. There are 7 names for World War 1 and 9 names for World War 2.

THE PENSIONER'S MITE.
BOTTESFORD WAR MEMORIAL UNVEILED.

The largest gathering in the history of the beautiful parish of Bottcsford witnessed the unveiling of the Bottesford, Holme, and Yaddlethorpe war memorial last Sunday afternoon. For such a magnificent monument to be erected to the memory so few men constitutes, should think, record for the whole country, and how it came about was explained after the unveiling ceremony by Mr. John A. Jackson, of the Manor House, who, as chairman of the local committee, did so much to make the movement success.

At the conclusion of the peace festivities in July, 1919, there was balance in hand of £8 9s 7d, which it was decided should form the nucleus of a fund for the erection some kind of memorial to the "boys" from that part who had not returned. By numerous and various efforts £107 7s 1d was raised and promises to the amount of £30 were made. The net cost of the memorial was £160, with £3 5s extra for the gate and £2 15s for the concrete steps and landing—total £166. They then required £21 3s 4d, explained Mr Jackson, but the previous night a gentleman handed him an envelope containing and other small amounts, including one week's pension from an old-age pensioner, and £16 2s 4d was wanted that afternoon to clear the memorial of debt.

After Mr Jackson's statement the collection realised the splendid sum of £27 17s, so the cost of the monument was cleared and sufficient left over to place a rail round it.

The memorial, which was supplied by Mr H. Kitchinson, the Ashby stonemason, is 10ft. 8in. high and stand on church ground in Church-lane. The pedestal, with moulded cap and moulded bases, is of Sicilian marble and at the top is an angel of Peace in statuary marble. The memorial bears the following inscription:—" Lest we forget. In memory of those who gave their lives for our country. Ralph Todd, Royal Fusiliers; George Marshall, 5th Lincolns; John W. Hall, Lincolns; Arthur Gravil, R.E.; Ernest Gravil, D.L.I.; Albert E. Pyecroft, South Staffs; Harry Parker, Notts and Derby. Their name liveth for evermore."
