The memorial stands on the green opposite Brereton Lodge, The Green, at the junction of The Green and Darnholme Lane, Goathland, Scarborough, North Yorkshire. It takes the form of a stone cross mounted on a tapering stone plinth, with inscriptions carved onto the plinth, situated on a wider stone base. There are 12 names for world War 1 and 6 names for World War 2.

COCKERILL	Frederick	Fred Cockerill on records. Private 27269. B Company, 7th Battalion, Yorkshire Regiment. Killed in action 14th May, aged 23 years. Son of Mr A P Cockerill of Green End, Goathland, Yorks. Born Goathland, enlisted Whitby and resident Goathland, Yorks. No known grave. Commemorated on Arras Memorial. Bay 5.
HARRISON	Godfrey	Godfrey Bousefield Harrison. Private 17780. 6th Battalion, Yorkshire Regiment. Died of wounds Gallipoli 29th September 1915, aged 38 years. Son of Watson and Mary Harrison. Husband of Ada Ethel Harrison of Mallyan Lodge, Goathland, Yorks. Enlisted Goathland and resident Whitby, Yorks. Buried in Alexandria (Chatby) Military and War Memorial Cemetery. D.125.
LIGHT	John Yeoman	Lance Corporal 471423. 222nd Field Company, Royal Engineers. Killed in action 14th April 1918, aged 31 years. Son of Thomas Light of Glebe Farm, Lealholm, Yorks. Husband of Edith Light of Waites House, Goathland, Yorks. Born Glaisdale and enlisted Northallerton, Yorks. No known grave. Commemorated on Tyne Cot Memorial. Panel 8 and 162.
PENNOCK	Edwin	No Edwin Pennock identified. Possibly should read Edward Pennock, born 1884 Goathland, Yorks the son of Neswell and Sarah Pennock, Grandson of John Pennock and present Goathland 1891 census. Private 33023. 10th Battalion, Yorkshire Regiment. Killed in action 29th September 1916. Born Goathland, enlisted Whitby and resident Goathland, Yorks. Buried in A.I.F Burial Ground. I.D.1.
PYBUS	George	Private 39065. 2/8th Battalion, Lancashire Fusiliers. Killed in action 9th October 1917. Born Goathland and enlisted Whitby, Yorks. No known grave. Commemorated on Tyne Cot Memorial. Panel 54 to 60 and 163A.

WHITELEY	Wilfred W	Wilfred Wilkinson Whiteley. Private 65236. 1st Battalion, Northumberland Fusiliers, formerly 31491 West Riding Regiment. Died of wounds 28th September 1918, aged 29 years. Son of Walter Whiteley of 1 Halsteads, Settle, Yorks. Born Colne, Lancashire and enlisted Keighley, Yorks. Buried in Settle (Holy Ascension) Churchyard.

BEAVER	William Oswald	Lance Bombardier 826151. 19 Field Regiment, Royal Artillery. Died 11th February 1944, aged 30 years. Son of James and Jane Beaver. Husband of Edie Beaver of Goathland, Yorks. Buried in Anzio War cemetery. IV.P.11.
BROWN	Arthur	Chief Officer (1st Mate), SS ‘Albionic’, Merchant Navy. Vessel missing, supposed drowned 11th September 1940, aged 55 years. Born 8 May 1886 in Whitby. Son of John and Mary Brown. Husband of Margaret Ann Brown. Last place of residence 32 George Street, Whitby. In the 1939 Register he was divorced, a Master Mariner, Cert No 038895 SS Gullpool 3 August 1929, and Special Constable, resident 15a Bridge Street, Whitby, Whitby U.D., Yorkshire (North Riding). Height 5 feet 8¼ inches, bkue eyes, brown hair, dark complexion. No known grave. Commemorated on Tower Hill Memorial. Panel 4.
ELLIS	Robert Charles Patrick	Commander, H.M.S. ‘Monck’, Royal Navy. Died 29th May 1944, aged 34 years. Son of Major R H and Evelyn Julia Ellis of Goathland, Yorks. Buried in Inverness (Tomnahurich) Cemetery. Section 4.14. Class 7. Grave 9.
PEIRSON	Gordon Belt	First Radio Officer, SS ‘British Venture’ (London), Merchant Navy. Died 24th June 1943, aged 23 years. Son of John Henry and Mary Margaret Peirson. No known grave. Commemorated on Tower Hill Memorial. Panel 21.
READMAN	Ernest F	Possibly Ernest Readman. Sergeant 1426335. 51 Battery, 69 Regiment, Royal Artillery. Died 24th April 1944, aged 39 years. Son of Harry and Margaret Readman of Redcar, husband of Evelyn Grace Readman of Dormanstown, Redcar, Yorks. Buried in Gauhati War Cemetery. 1.H.20.
