The
Stowupland war memorial is to be found in Holy Trinity Church, Stowlupland,
Suffolk. It takes the form of a wall mounted board with painted inscription
with names listed with decorative borders. There is in relief an in
cusp pediment top centre; two kneeling angels lamenting and holding
a scroll with inscription. There are 37 names for World War 1 and ten
names for World War 2.

of Church Walk, Stowupland, Suffolk. Attested 7 February 1910 at
Stowmarket, aged 17 years, born Stowupland, a Labourer by trade,
height 5 feet 5¾ inches, chest 34 inches, re-attested 23
January 1911 in Hussars of the line transferred to Royal Garrison
Artillery as Gunner 26 January 1911. Served at home 23 January 1911
to 27 October 1912, in India 28 October 1912 to 15 January 1915,
with Indian Expeditionary Force 15 January 1915 until his death.
When he reattested at Stowmarket, 23 January 1911, he was eighteen
years 3 months, height 5 feet 7½ inches, weight 130lbs, chest
33½ to 38 inches, fresh complexion, brown eyes, dark brown
hair, religious denomination Church of England. Buried in KUT WAR
CEMETERY, Iraq. Section Q. Grave 13. |
