The Hessett war memorial only covers World War 1. The memorial was unveiled by Brigadier-general A L Schreiber 3 October 1920; the builder's were Hanchets. Details appeared in the Bury Free Press 9 October 1920. Within the church is a further Roll of Honour listing the men who served in World War 1 from Hessett, those who died are anotated; the name of John Whiting appears on the memorial but not on the Roll of Honour.
