The Debenham War Memorial takes the form of a rectangular stone of remembrance with inscriptions on front and right sides. It was originally in the War Memorial Institute in Gracechurch Street, Debenham but was moved to St Marys Church, High Street, Debenham; the removal was carried out by J Wright & Son of Ipswich. Details of the memorial appeared in East Anglian Daily Times, 2 March 1920. There are 33 names listed for World War 1 and 6 for World War 2. The same names are listed on the Roll of Honour in Debenham United Reformed Chapel. Futher details can be found on the Debenham Family History web site.

In the 1901 census he was aged 2, born Ipswich, resident with his parents, GFeorge and Emma E Aldous, in Church Row, Debenham, Bosmere, Suffolk. In the 1911 census he was aged 12, at school, born Ipswich, resident with his widowed mother, Emma E Aldous, at 2, Chapel Row, Debenham, Suffolk. Artiss, of Bedingfield, Eye, Suffolk; husband of Catherine Mary Artiss (nee Cooke), of Hill Rd., Besthorpe, Attleborough, Norfolk, married 1915 in Cambridge. LAFLIN Frank
Private 527596, 5th Field Ambulance, Canadian Army Medical Corps. Killed in action 26 August 1918; at about 5.45 o'clock on the afternoon of August 26th, 1918, while with his stretcher squad working near the R.A.P. of the 19th Battalion, off the Arras Cambrai road near Monchy-le-Preux, and while engaged in guiding walking wounded to the motor ambulances, a shell exploded a few yards from him, and he was almost immediately killed. Aged 30. Born 8 May 1888 in Stoke, Suffolk. Son of Harry and Susan Laflin, of 45, Times Avenue, Toronto. Born at Stoke-by-Nayland, Colchester. In the 1901 census he was aged 17, born Bildeston, Suffolk, a Tailors Apprentice, resident with his parents, James and Lucy Snell, in Gracechurch Street, Debenham, Bosmere, Suffolk. In the 1911 census he was aged 26, born Bildeston, Suffolk, a Tailor Maker, resident with his parents, James and Lucy Snell, in Gracechurch Street, Debenham, Bosmere, Suffolk. In the 1901 census he was aged 8, born Debenham, Suffolk, resident with his parents, James and Lucy Snell, in Gracechurch Street, Debenham, Bosmere, Suffolk. No known grave. In the 1891 census he was aged 14, resident with his parents, Frederick and Sarah Taylor, in Back Lane, Debenham, Bosmere, Suffolk. In the 1911 census he was aged 34, born Debenham, a Labourer Roadwork And C And Odd-Jobman, resident with his father, Frederick Taylor, in Grace Church Street, Debenham, Suffolk. No known grave.
