BLACKROD WAR MEMORIAL

The Blackrod war memorial can be found at the junction of Church Street and Manchester Road (B5408), Blackrod, Bolton, in the cemetery. It takes the form of a stone cenotaph with flower beds and flag holders to either side and a paved area in front. The inscrption for World War 1 is on the front face and World War 2 on the rear. There are 43 names listed for World War 1 and 19 for World War 2. The memorial is a Grade II listed building. It was dedicated by Rev. R. W. Godron, M.A. and unveiled by Mrs mary Ann Wilkinson 29 March 1925; the memorial was built by Mr Leonard Fairclough.
