The War Memorial stands by the outside of St Wystan's churchyard on Willington Road next to the boundary wall to the left of the lychgate; this part of Willington Road is known locally as Church End. The memorial takes the form of a rounded stone pillar of white Derbyshire stone from Wingerworth, on a two-stepped base with two stone bollards at the front corners. At the top the word "REMEMBER " , the background excised so the word stands proud from the background . Below that the dedication and names incised and coloured in dark red The inscription is in red leteering on the front face. The memorial was designed by Mr W. Vincent Cook RIBA (Architect) and constructed by Philip Hamlet (Mason); it was dedicated and unveiled 14 November 1999. There are 36 names listed for World War 1 and 13 names for World War 2.
